Nippon Steel recently purchased liquefied natural gas (LNG) at the highest price ever in Japan, a person familiar with the matter said on the 19th. In Japan, there are growing concerns over the supply of LNG from Russia.
According to people familiar with the matter, Nippon Steel purchased the LNG cargo delivered in September for $ 41 per million BTUs (British thermal unit). It is expected to be supplied by a major trading company.
"The cost of cargo (purchased by Nippon Steel) will be $ 132-135 million," said one of the people.
