Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihiko Isozaki protested through diplomatic routes in connection with the announcement that the Russian Defense Ministry will conduct military exercises in the Far East region at a meeting on the afternoon of the 28th of July. It was revealed that it had offered to the Russian side to exclude the northern territory.
Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Isozaki said on the 27th that the government had informed Russia that military exercises in the northern territories would never be accepted and urged them to exclude them from the area where the exercises were conducted. As Russia's invasion of Ukraine continued, he also raised concerns about the increasing activity of Russian troops around Japan.
On top of that, Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Isozaki said he would continue to collect relevant information and take appropriate action.
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that it will hold a strategic military exercise "Vostok" from August 30th to September 5th in the Far East region (Eastern Military District). Areas, where the exercises will be conducted, include parts of Siberia, as well as Khabarovsk, which is near the border with China.
Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Isozaki said that the infection of the new coronavirus has been spreading nationwide, but the government policy is "I am not thinking of imposing behavioral restrictions at this time." On that basis, he expressed his intention to appropriately deal with the congestion of fever outpatients, which is currently a problem in the progressive tense.
