The United Nations Commission on Human Rights (Human Rights Commission) released a report on the human rights situation in Hong Kong on the 27th of July, arguing that the Hong Kong National Security Law (National Security Law) should be abolished. did. He said the law should be amended by the Hong Kong government. There are concerns that the law is being used for freedom of speech and crackdowns on citizenship.

"The Commission has called on the Hong Kong government to take steps to abolish it and refrain from applying the law until then," Vice-Chairman Balkan of the Commission told reporters. He said it was necessary to resolve the "fundamental flaw" that was enforced without the consultation of Hong Kong citizens.

The commission said more than 200 people, including 12 children, have been arrested for violating national security law since its enforcement in 2020.

This is the first time the committee has made such a proposal in 20 years.
